L'Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Jubilee 14802 de Ed

L'Audemars Piguet Royal Oak  … longtemps elle m’est apparue comme une aberration stylistique et comme un non-sens horloger, avec sa forme hexagonale, ses têtes de boulon sur la lunette  marqués d’une fente de vis  inutile, ses surfaces polies et son bracelet acier  sensibles aux rayures, ceci  pour une montre de sport au prix de l’or.

Mais un jour une Audemars Piguet Royal Oak référence 14802 st, dite Jubilee , a croisé ma route chez un ami marchand.

Sortie en édition limitée en 1992  pour les 20 ans de la Royal Oak, dans la boite fine et large d’une Jumbo, avec un cadran anthracite , des index longs, pas de filet encadrant la date, la mention Automatic à 6 heures, pas de graduation des minutes, elle avait presque tout de l’originale.  Un fond transparent en prime, qui dévoile le calibre 2121 ( JLC 920) au rotor spécifique en or. 

Je crains les questions d’entretien et de maintenance pour les vintages, et la course à la mensuration maximale des modèles actuels me déplait : cette jeune ancienne convenait parfaitement. Et j’ai pu alors apprécier le subtil décalage de ce design si particulier, qui donne à l’acier des finitions réservées aux métaux précieux, et redécouvre des formes dont la puissance et l’équilibre s’imposent.

Ce n’est pas la Royal Oak de tout le monde. De plus, ce modèle est curieusement absent dulivre célébrant en 2012 les 40  ans de la Royal Oak…  Intérêt complémentaire, je connaissais déjà  certain de ses propriétaires antérieurs, ce qui m’a permis de reconstituer avec eux partie de son histoire.
